Freight Train, Car Involved In Hit-And-Run

Posted Updated

RALEIGH, N.C. — Raleigh police are searching for a driver of a car involved with a hit-and-run involving a freight train.

The train slammed into the car at about 1 a.m. Sunday when, authorities said, the driver parked the car on the railroad tracks at 200 Rush St. The train was unable to stop in time and dragged the car along the tracks.

Police said the driver then went to a nearby store to report the crash, but when the store's owner wanted to call police, the man ran off.

No one was injured in the crash, but police said they do plan to charge the man with hit-and-run when he is taken into custody.
