Thousands Lose Power After Cary Line Break

Posted Updated

CARY, N.C. — About 2,700 lost power in Cary for nearly three hours early Thursday evening.

Authorities said a power line was spliced underneath the intersection of Cary Parkway and Laura Duncan Road.

A gas line connected to the spliced line also ruptured and blew off a manhole cover.

The break caused a strong odor of natural gas in the area. Crews fixed the problem around 7 p.m.
