Henderson Police Chief Becomes New Top Cop In Clayton

CLAYTON, N.C. — Henderson Police Chief Glen Allen was introduced Monday as the new police chief in Clayton.

Allen will replace former Police Chief Gary Ragland, who retired in January.

"My family and I are very excited about moving to Clayton," Allen said. "We believe the police department here affords us a tremendous opportunity, and we very much look forward to joining the community."

"We're excited and feel like our patience in this process has paid off," said Town Manager Steve Biggs. "We used the quality test that residents here expect to recruit the best candidate we could find."

Allen, the past president of the North Carolina Association of Chiefs of Police, is expected to start in his new position Sept. 4.
