Lenovo Wins Two Design Awards For Personal Computers

RALEIGH, N.C. — Lenovo

, which has its headquarters in Raleigh, received two "Gold Awards" in research and computer equipment at the 2006 Industrial Design Excellence Awards in Beijing, China.

Lenovo's Opti Desktop PC, designed to appeal to Chinese young people, received the Gold Idea award.

The Opti was also recognized for design research. Lenovo worked with ZIBA Design of Portland, OR. The research helped Lenovo design a PC that appealed to Chinese consumer culture, Lenovo said in a statement.

The awards were presented by the Industrial Designers Society of America and BusinessWeek.
