Two Arrested, Charged With Animal Cruelty In Durham

DURHAM, N.C. — Durham police have arrested two men accused of attempting to drown puppies in a local river.

Juan Rodeo, 34, and Fidencio Rojas, 39, both of North Roxboro Road, were charged with cruelty to animals.

On Tuesday afternoon, officers responded to a about two men attempting to drown three puppies in the Eno River. Police located the men and pulled one puppy out of the water.

The men told officers they were trying to teach the puppies how to swim.

The three Lab-mix puppies survived.
