One Killed, One Injured In Fayetteville Accident

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Fayetteville police are investigating a fatal traffic accident that occurred late Tuesday morning.
At about 11:10 a.m., officers responded to the scene at the intersection of
Martin Luther King Jr. Freeway and Ramsey Street
The preliminary investigation revealed Donald Goodwin Sr., 63, of Pikeville, was driving a Ford Excursion inbound on Ramsey Street when he ran a red light and struck a motorcycle waiting at the traffic light, according to police.
The impact caused the motorcycle and Excursion to travel into the intersection. The Excursion then struck a Chevrolet Equinox, driven by Sally Maher, 45, of Fayetteville, that was turning left onto Ramsey Street from the MLK Freeway.
The driver of the motorcycle, David Daugherty, 39, of Fayetteville, was transported to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
Maher was transported to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
Goodwin is charged with misdemeanor deathy by motor vehicle, a red-light violation and failure to reduce speed.
