Wake School Board To Discuss Year-Round Conversion

Posted Updated

RALEIGH, N.C. — Wake County school board members said they need to convert an additional 20 to 30 schools to year-round status next year to keep up with the growth. On Tuesday, school board members are set to iron out the formula for converting schools to a year-round calendar.

Officials said year-round schools can hold 20 to 30 percent more students than a traditional calendar school.

Several parents groups have said they are concerned with how the board will chose which schools to convert. Up until this point, the public could weigh in with their suggestions on the conversion formula. Board members said they will take those suggestions into account Tuesday.

The new list of year-round schools will be released on August 15.
