RALEIGH, N.C. — Family members of a Raleigh murder victim are trying to keep the public focus on the case by using fun and games.
The Jernigan family hosted a carnival and concert at the Circus Restaurant on Wake Forest Road. LeRoy Jernigan was found shot to death at that location June 3 as he was working inside as a cleaning contractor.
His family will use money and donations from the carnival games, car wash and food sales for a reward to catch the killer. A gospel music concert is scheduled for Saturday night.
Authorities recovered Jernigan's red truck, which was stolen the night of the slaying, abandoned in a nearby neighborhood shortly afterward. They also released composite photos of two men seen near the truck and have set up a 24-hour hotline,
