Mecklenburg Co. Sheriff's Office Picks Iris Biometric Technology

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Mecklenburg County (N.C.) Sheriff's Office will demonstrate a new technology for identifying sex offenders during the N.C. Sheriff's Association Convention in Charlotte on July 17.

The department is working with

BI2 Technologies

of Plymouth, MA to present the Sex Offender Registry & Identification System from BI2. The system utilizes iris recognition biometric technology to identify convicted sex offenders.

BI2 utilizes web-based technology.

Mecklenburg County will be the first sheriff's department to deploy the system.
