Officer Hurt When Car Crashes Into Store

RALEIGH, N.C. — A State Capitol Police Officer is recovering Thursday morning after an accident on duty overnight.

Officials said that Stephen Carl Ellington was on duty when his patrol car rammed the front of a furniture store on Spring Forest Road around midnight.

Investigators believe a medical condition caused the accident.

Ellington suffered a broken ankle and cut on the head.

Officials are investigating the incident.
