DURHAM, N.C. — The husband of a murdered Durham cellist could face the death penalty.
Robert Petrick is charged with killing his wife, Janine Sutphen. Sutphen's body was found by two fisherman at Falls Lake last month. She disappeared in January.
Thursday, the District Attorney's Office filed papers to let the court know they are considering prosecuting this as a death penalty case.
Prosecutors have 45 days before they have to decide.
Petrick is in the Durham County Jail without bond. His next court appearance is scheduled for July.
