SANFORD, N.C. — Both directions of
N.C. 42 (Wicker Street) are closed at U.S. 1
in Sanford due to a tractor-trailer accident.
Also, one lane of U.S. 1 North is closed at the interchange.
Crews from the N.C. Department of Transportation are working to repair damage to the U.S. 1 bridge over N.C. 42.
The road is anticipated to reopen later Friday.
Motorists should expect heavy delays and proceed with caution through this area.
N.C. 42 traffic should use Carbonton Road as an alternate route.
