Greenville police say they investigated the incident when the 30-year-old female fan filed a formal complaint.
The alleged incident occurred on April 27, but police say the woman didn't lodge her complaint until about a month later.
After investigating, Greenville police arrested Cecil Amick III and charged him with "molesting or disturbing persons."
Amick is currently free on bond awaiting a possible future court appearance.
The woman claims a person dressed in the mascot's costume fondled her breast in a stadium stairwell.
In her complaint, the victim also alleges the incident took place in front of witnesses.
Mike deMaine, general manager for the
Greenville Drive
, issued a statement on behalf of the minor league club.
DeMaine said the South Atlantic League affiliate of the Boston Red Sox is aware of the incident and has "suspended the employee in question with pay upon learning of the alleged incident and is cooperating fully with the authorities."
In his statement, deMaine also says the team cannot comment on specific details of the incident pending the final outcome of the investigation.
