Five People Taken To Hospital After Two-Car Accident On I-40

RALEIGH, N.C. — A two-car accident on Interstate 40 sent five people to the hospital.

The accident happened in the eastbound lane near Clayton. Authorities say a pickup truck ran into the car in front of it, sending that car into the guardrail.

Authorities say onlookers also caused several accidents along the interstate.

Traffic was backed up for nearly four miles.

The victims' names and conditions have not been released.
