Johnston Deputy Crashes Into Guardrail

Posted Updated

JOHNSTON COUNTY, N.C. — A Johnston County deputy has been released from the hospital after he crashed into a guardrail.

The accident happened early Sunday morning on southbound Interstate 95 near Micro.

Authorities said the deputy crashed trying to avoid a wrecker that quickly changed lanes. According to investigators, the deputy's brakes locked up, sending him off the road.

Investigators do not plan to charge the driver of the wrecker because he was trying to avoid another accident. The deputy is expected to be OK.
