Authorities searched Petrick's home Monday looking for items that may have been used to wrap up Janine Sutphen's body. Fishermen found Sutphen's body floating in Falls Lake almost two weeks ago. Sutphen was wrapped in a green tarp tied with duct tape and her feet bound in chains.
Sutphen, a cellist with the Durham Symphony, was reported missing in January. The week following her disappearance, detectives searched the home she shared with Petrick.
During the 5-day search, police seized dozens of items, including gloves, knives, saws, a shovel, a bolt cutter and duct tape. Police also took bed sheets, computers, hair, fibers, whips, cameras, film, and movies from the home. It is the first search of the home since late January.
Petrick is in the Durham County Jail without bond. His next court appearance is scheduled for next month.
