Four Still Hospitalized After Laurinburg Roof Collapse

Posted Updated

LAURINBURG, N.C. — Investigators with the state Department of Labor are looking into a construction accident at a former Laurinburg school on Tuesday.

Investigators revisited the scene at the old Laurinburg Junior High School in Wednesday. Seven workers were hurt during renovations Tuesday when the roof came crashing down.

One worker told WRAL he heard a crack, looked up, and watched the ceiling cave in. Four workers are still in the hospital, but doctors say they're doing well. Three others were treated on scene.

Authorities said the investigation into what caused the accident would take about four weeks.
