Sutphen Remembered In Durham Memorial Service
Posted June 9, 2003
DURHAM, N.C. — Friends and family paid tribute to Janine Sutphen on Sunday.
Most everyone who arrived at a memorial service for the cellist with the Durham Symphony brought fresh flowers. Friends and family said Sutphen enjoyed flowers and spent a lot of time gardening.
The Eno River Unitarian Universalist Church was packed with friends and family, many of whom were on hand to share their fond memories of Sutphen.
Sutphen was reported missing on Jan. 21, when she failed to show up for a rehearsal with the symphony. Her body was found May 29 in Falls Lake. Her husband, Robert Petrick, is in jail, charged with her murder.
