Major Changes Made To Fort Bragg Access Points

Posted Updated

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Fayetteville drivers will notice some changes around Fort Bragg, starting Sunday.

The military is restricting access to the post through one of its gates, closing three others and changing the operating hours of a fourth. The moves were prompted by a recent traffic survey.

Among the changes:

  • The Yadkin Road access-control point will be open only to drivers with Defense Department identification. The Gruber Road West access-control point at the intersection of Gruber and Bragg Boulevard will be closed permanently.
  • The access-control point at Knox Street East, leading to the Material Maintenance Division, will be unmanned. Trucks headed for the division will need to be processed at the Knox Street truck plaza.
  • The access-control point at the intersection of Murchison and Gruber roads, leading to Simmons Army Airfield, will close permanently.
  • The Gruber Road East access-control point, at the intersection of Bragg Boulevard and Gruber Road, will close from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
  • Drivers trying to enter the 1st Theater Sustainment Command area from the north should use the Honeycutt Road entrance; drivers traveling from the south should enter the installation from Bragg Boulevard at Knox Street West and use Honeycutt to cross Bragg Boulevard.
