DURHAM, N.C. — Robert Petrick was arrested Friday afternoon and charged with the murder of his wife, Janine Sutphen, whose body was found Thursday in Falls Lake.
Petrick, 50, of 1304 Seaton Road, Apt. 32, was arrested after Durham police investigators obtained a magistrate's order for murder. Petrick was placed in Durham County Jail without benefit of bond.
Sutphen, 57, a cellist with the Durham Symphony, was reported missing by Petrick at 3:13 a.m., Jan. 22. He told officers he had last seen her around 6:30 p.m. on Jan. 21, when she left home to go to the Durham Arts Council.
Two fishermen found Sutphen's body Thursday morning near the Cheek Road Bridge in the Wake County portion of Falls Lake. Her body was positively identified Friday morning during an autopsy. The cause of death has not been determined.
