No balloons or packages are being allowed at the ceremonies. In addition, everyone must have a ticket to attend the ceremonies.
"What we are doing is ensuring that everyone who is admitted does have a valid ticket to get in. If they leave the premises, they will not be allowed back in," said Corey Duber, security director for Wake County schools.
Some parents said they do not mind the added security presence.
"You can never be too safe. Whatever measures it takes to keep kids and parents safe, I'm all for it," parent Wayne English said.
"If I am going somewhere, I want to make sure that I'm safe at the place I'm going, so I think it's a good idea," parent Gwyn Booker said.
Officials would not give specific details about their security measures.
