Hawes Trial Expected To Move Quickly

e-mail print friendly

The murder trial of Mike Peterson isn't the only high-interest trial happening in Durham. But the trial of Lawrence Hawes is expected to move much more quickly than the Peterson trial.

Hawes is accused of raping a woman at gunpoint in her west Durham home last March. He got out of prison just last year after serving time for raping two Duke students in 1988.

Even though Hawes is only charged in the one case, he's suspected in a series of rapes.

The trial is only expected to last two days.
