Thousands Expected To Attend Air Show For Festival Of Flight Celebration

Posted Updated

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — More than 100,000 people are expected this weekend for the air show and open house at Pope Air Force Base and Fort Bragg as part of Fayetteville's

Festival of Flight

celebration.

The Air Force Thunderbirds may well steal the "Thrill of Flying" show, but they will be just one part of many different military aircraft flying Saturday and Sunday.

If you plan to go to the festivities, there are a few things you need to know. People attending the festivities will have to park off base and take a shuttle to the gates. Officials plan to have metal detectors at the event and they warn that people's bags will be searched.

Officials will only allow purses, small camera bags and portable chairs at the event. No coolers and no pets will be permitted.

The "Thrill of Flying" show runs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, and admission is free to the public.
