Wake Shooting Victim Shows Up At Store Owned By Sheriff

RALEIGH, N.C. — A shooting victim, looking for help, ended up Wednesday at a convenience store owned by Wake County Sheriff Donnie Harrison.

Deputies said the man, identified as Charles Cornwell, was shot in the leg. Deputies are searching for the suspect, identified as Carl Ward.

The shooting happened at a home on Ewing Drive near Garner.

Deputies said that after Cornwell got shot, he drove an SUV to the Swift Creek Mini Mart, which is owned by the sheriff.
