If you are a true "Clay-Niac," you may envy the Cheragosha family of Hillsborough. They won Old Navy's national "American Idol" contest. The whole family flew to Los Angeles, received a limousine ride to the hotel, a shopping spree and best of all, backstage passes to see the "American Idol" finals, featuring Clay.
"We just put entries in at the Old Navy in the Durham-Chapel Hill area, I probably put maybe 25 to30 altogether," said Pam Cheragosha.
"Not a whole lot of people knew about it and I kind of wanted it that way because they would just be all over me, but the ones that did know, they couldn't stop talking about it," said Parisa Cheragosha, Pam's daughter.
Barry Cheragosha, Parisa's father, said the family is a little divided, thanks to "American Idol."
"This is the democracy. The girls are for Ruben and Mom and me, you know, we are just for Clay," he said.
Other fans and friends from the A.E. Finley YMCA also headed west to support Aiken even though they do not have tickets to the finals.
It was Clay-fever at Southpoint Mall Monday, where fans joined the Clay fan club, buy Clay wear, and spin a prize wheel. All proceeds from the event will benefit going to the Autism Society of North Carolina.
You Can Be On "American Idol"
Come out and cheer on hometown favorite Clay Aiken and get seen on national TV! FOX is inviting the public to come and watch the "American Idol" final Wednesday evening at the RBC Center. Admission is free and doors open at 7 p.m. WRAL's Mark Roberts will be on hand for the festivities.
