Authorities Arrest Suspect In Raleigh Triplex Fire

Posted Updated

RALEIGH, N.C. — Raleigh police have arrested a suspect they believe set a fire at a Raleigh triplex early Thursday morning.

Byron Keith Miller, 32, was captured by authorities in east Raleigh Thursday afternoon. Authorities believe he may be responsible for a fire at 1508 Mary Frances Place, near Buck Jones Road, around 4 a.m.

Fire crews said the fire started in the top unit of the building. No one was inside the top unit, but people living downstairs said they woke up when they heard the fire popping.

A joint investigation by the Raleigh police and fire departments, the State Bureau of Investigation and the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms determined the cause of the fire to be arson.

Police said Miller was also wanted on the charge of misdemeanor assault on a female related to a domestic assault that occurred prior to the alleged arson.
