FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A young girl is critically injured after a deadly crash in Fayetteville.
Authorities say Michael Jerome Fields, Chanelle Section and Curtis Jones were driving to close on a new house when they were involved in a head-on collision with another car on Yadkin Road. The toddler in the car, Ilanya Fields was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, and she is listed in fair condition with a head injury. Curtis Jones is listed in fair condition at the hospital.
Police say it appears the toddler was not wearing a restraining device.
The two-car accident killed Mamie Homes Wilkes, the driver of the other vehicle. Authorities believe Wilkes' vehicle crossed the center lane of the road, causing the accident.
A paramedic in a quick response vehicle responding to the accident was also involved in a minor crash. Police say traffic was backed up and a motorist was trying to turn around in the middle of the road when the paramedic hit him. The driver of the car was cited in the incident.
