Wayne County Captain Among Many Honored In Memorial Ceremony

Posted Updated

WAYNE COUNTY, N.C. — Deputies and police officers across the state took time out Monday to honor their fallen comrades.

In Goldsboro, Wayne County Capt. Jerry Best's name was etched into a stone memorial.

That memorial lists all law enforcement officers and emergency personnel who have died in the line of duty.

Best died last November while trying to clear an injured deer off a busy highway.
