Wake School Board Approves Plan To Prohibit Tobacco Use On Campuses

Posted Updated

RALEIGH, N.C. — It appears all Wake County schools inside and out will soon be off limits to smoking.

Tuesday night, the Wake County School Board approved a plan to prohibit the use of tobacco products in any school building, any school vehicle and even outside on school campuses.

The policy -- which applies to all students, emplyees and visitors -- requires one more vote, which probably will come later this month. It also prohibits the possession of tobacco products by students.

Tobacco products include cigarettes, cigars, pipes, chewing tobacco and snuff. Tobacco use includes smoking, chewing, and dipping.
