Judge Overturns Durham Man's Rape Conviction, But Will Remain In Jail

Posted Updated

DURHAM, N.C. — A man whose conviction on rape charges was overturned will not get out of jail right away.

The woman who accused Che Fletcher of raping her in 1995 in Durham now says she lied.

Shelia Hofferberth says she accused him of rape because he refused to pay her for sex.

A judge overturned Fletcher's conviction on the rape charges, but he will remain in prison on an assault with a deadly weapon charge.
