SANFORD, N.C. — Four people are behind bars after the biggest drug bust in the history of Lee County.
Officers bought 500 pounds of marijuana during an undercover drug buy. The marijuana has a street value of more than $2 million.
Sanford police, the Drug Enforcement Administration and the State Bureau of Investigation made the bust Wednesday night at a Sanford motel.
Police say the drugs was packed in moving boxes in the back of a Ford Explorer. They believe the suspects brought the drugs from Mexico.
