Vance DA Plans To Catch Up On Backlog Of Murder Cases

Posted Updated

VANCE COUNTY, N.C. — The Vance County district attorney says he plans to catch up on a backlog of murder cases.

Earlier this month, five murder suspects were released on bond because of the court back-ups.

Sam Currin says the office will catch up on the backlog by scheduling extra court sessions this summer and by adding staff to get the outstanding cases ready for trial.

Fourteen murder cases are pending in Vance County, and right now, none of them has a trial date.
