FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Two Cumberland County children riding bicycles were injured during an accident involving a truck Sunday night on Parkton Road.
According to authorities, the truck driver was not at fault. They said a 10-year-old boy turned his bike into the path of the truck.
An 8-year-old girl riding a different bicycle was not hit by the truck. But she broke her shoulder when she fell off her bike trying to escape the collision.
The boy's injury was not considered life-threatening. He was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center after suffering a head trauma. The boy apparently was not wearing a helmet. A trooper on the scene said the boy's mother will be cited for allowing her child to ride without a helmet.
