Wake Forest Convenience Store's Restaurant Closes After Low Sanitation Grade

WAKE FOREST, N.C. — A Wake Forest convenience store can no longer serve prepared food.

Health inspectors closed the restaurant portion of Starmart on Main Street after it scored a 68.5 on its most recent health inspection. The lowest possible passing grade is a 70.

Some violations include:

  • Barbecue was kept at an unsafe temperature.
  • The restaurant had no sanitizer or thermometers.
  • There was no convenient hand sink for staff.
  • Starmart has to be repermitted before it serves food again.
