HOPE MILLS, N.C. — Volunteers searching for a missing Hope Mills mother of two found a woman's body in a wooded area Sunday afternoon, authorities said.

Authorities haven't confirmed whether the body is Edwardyne "Dynee" Williams, 50, who was last seen Nov. 27, but have said the death is suspicious.

Deputies could not identify the body or determine a cause of death due to decomposition, and the body will be sent to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Chapel Hill for an autopsy.

The body was found close to the roadway off Canady Pond Road, near the John McMillan Road intersection, around 2 p.m., according to the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office.

Williams lived on Canady Pond Road. Last Sunday, investigators found her abandoned SUV along Chicken Foot Road in Cumberland County, about two miles from her home.

Family members said her purse was found hanging on a nearby tree, and her house keys and cellphone were in the vehicle.
