Volunteers searching for a missing Hope Mills mother of two found a woman's body in a wooded area Sunday afternoon, authorities said.

Authorities haven't confirmed whether the body is Edwardyne "Dynee" Williams, 50, who was last seen Nov. 27, but have said the death is suspicious.

Deputies could not identify the body or determine a cause of death due to decomposition, and the body will be sent to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Chapel Hill for an autopsy.

The body was found close to the roadway off Canady Pond Road, near the John McMillan Road intersection, around 2 p.m., according to the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office.

Williams lived on Canady Pond Road. Last Sunday, investigators found her abandoned SUV along Chicken Foot Road in Cumberland County, about two miles from her home.

Family members said her purse was found hanging on a nearby tree, and her house keys and cellphone were in the vehicle.

oh no.

What a sad story. If the body has not been identified, there's still hope the body found is not her and that she's still alive somewhere. I'm holding out hope because I saw ABC 11, I believe, showing a clip of where the body was found, and when I saw a mattress in that area it occurred to me that the body found could be the body of a homeless individual and not this lady. It's sad for any body to be found dead of any cause in the woods, but the body found may not be her. On the other hand I suppose it could be her and it's possible she was murdered by someone living out there in the woods. :( My heart goes out to her family.

Agreed this is very very sad. Nobody is safe

The purse hanging in the tree is creepy. Had to take unecessary effort to do that.

My heart goes out to this family. It broke my heart to hear that they had found a body.God I pray for peace and comfort for the girls.

Judging by where the body was reported to be found it appears to be at least a mile away from both her home and the location where the SUV was found. I feel sad for both daughters as they have appeared to have lost both parents in the span of a year.
