ZEBULON, N.C. — The hunt for Ricky Bailey is over.

A fugitive wanted for allegedly kidnapping and murdering his estranged wife last month in Wilson, Bailey was arrested without incident by Zebulon police Saturday. He was located inside an abandoned house on Highway 39.

Bailey is scheduled to make his first court appearance on Monday.

According to police, two officers were doing a routine check of the house when they came upon Bailey, who was armed with a pistol. Police said he did not fire or resist arrest, though he did give a false name when they asked him to identify himself.

After Zebulon police determined that he was Ricky Bailey, the Wilson Police Department was notified of Bailey's arrest. Bailey was taken back to Wilson and served with warrants for kidnapping and murder. He was booked into the Wilson County jail Saturday night.

Bailey had been on the run since authorities began investigating the March 30 murder of Bailey's estranged wife, Dena. A female fried of Ricky Bailey's has been arrested for allegedly helping Bailey after the murder.

Authorities say Dena Bailey had been trying to leave her husband for two years.
