More Fort Bragg Soldiers Get Deployment Orders

Posted Updated

FORT BRAGG, N.C. — Members of the 3rd Battalion, 27th Field Artillery at Fort Bragg prepared for their deployment on Wednesday.

The soldiers are responsible for rockets that can travel up to 27 miles and missiles that go as far as 120 miles. They say they are eager to show what they can do.

"I'm hoping that I remembered everything. all my guys remembered everything. I hope we go out there and do our jobs and everybody comes back home," said Sgt. David Gottwig.

"I'm just ready to go. Get it over with and come back home to be with my family," said Sgt. Angelo Eury.

Many family members say they are trying to be strong, but they admit that it can be hard.

"I know that he will be OK, but I just don't really like waiting for him to come back because we have a good time together and he is a good big brother, said Lauren Hucker, whose brother is being deployed.

"It's going to be hard, but I'm strong and I will get through it," said Lakeita Eury, Angelo's wife.

The soldiers will be deployed over the next few days. Officials will not say where they are being deployed to. One hundred members of the unit left Fort Bragg in late February.
