Posted Updated

DURHAM, N.C. — A Durham landmark is about to become history.

The old Woolworth's building on Parrish Street is being demolished. City leaders are calling it the rebirth of downtown Durham.

The city plans to open up the site for bids to developers.

The century-old building was home to the first Woolworth's in North Carolina.

Officials say it will cost $800,000 to tear it down.
