FORT BRAGG, N.C. — The Army's highest civilian leader visited Fort Bragg on Wednesday.
Speaking to a crowd of military officials and civilians, U.S. Secretary of the Army Thomas White said local soldiers were involved in Pfc. Jessica Lynch's rescue. Lynch was captured and held prisoner by the Iraqis on March 23 after her unit was ambushed.
An U.S. commando raid rescued the Army soldier from a hospital in Iraq Tuesday night.
White said the rescue involved coalition forces, which included Army Special Operations based at Fort Bragg. He would not elaborate on their role, only saying there will be more rescues.
