ELM CITY, N.C. — Family and friends of an 11-year-old Wilson County boy are in mourning.
Craig Virgil was struck by an Amtrak train Saturday morning in Elm City.
Virgil was with his cousin, headed to the barber shop. As they came up to the tracks, Virgil's cousin saw the train coming and yelled for him to move.
Virgil apparently didn't hear his cousin shouting. He was hit by the train and declared dead at the scene.
The train reportedly was moving faster than 70 miles an hour.
