FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — The teenage driver of an SUV that crashed last week, killing one passenger, has been charged.
Crystal Leadbetter, 12, died and seven others were injured when the SUV they were riding in flipped over on Raeford Road on March 12.
Jason Frazier, 18, was cited for driving an overloaded vehicle, misdemeanor death by motor vehicle and failure to have children under 16 restrained.
Police said low tire pressure, combined with a heavy load, contributed to the crash.
The group was headed to a skating party.
