Wagstaff To Remain On School Board

Posted Updated

DURHAM, N.C. — A judge has ruled that embattled Durham school board member Jackie Wagstaff can stay on the board.

The Durham County School Board questioned Wagstaff's ability to serve because she admitted to falsifying city checks.

The judge said the board cannot remove her because the conduct in question happened before Wagstaff was a member.

Wagstaff said it is time to move forward.

"At this point, it's just a relief to know that I can go and sit down with the board and we have a starting point," she said.

The school board said it will abide by the judge's decision.
