Committee Wants Stricter Dress Code For Durham Schools

DURHAM, N.C. — Some Durham students may have to clean their closets before heading to school next year.

A committee has recommended toughening the dress code for

public schools

.

Current rules ban disruptive, revealing and dangerous outfits. The proposed changes include bans on profanity and clothes that promote gangs, drugs, alcohol or tobacco.

The school board could vote on the proposal in May.
