American Bar Association Calls For Appointment Of Trial Judges

Posted Updated

CARY, N.C. — The goal of the American Bar Association is to have trial court judges be appointed rather than elected.

The group of attorneys and judges met in Cary and applauded North Carolina's new law that makes the election of judges nonpartisan and who are eligible for public campaign money.

The American Bar Association also backs a national system of appointing judges to serve a single, lengthy term and not be eligible for re-election.
