DURHAM, N.C. — North Carolina Central University's expansion plans are now in the hands of the Durham City Council.
NCCU put in a zoning request that would change the old Hillside High School site from residential to institutional.
The city council must approve the request before the school can start building a new science complex and dorm.
Money for the $35 million project came from a public bond.
