Hoke Deputy Shoots Pit Bull While Looking For Suspect

Posted Updated

HOKE COUNTY, N.C. — A Hoke County deputy killed a pregnant pit bull after investigators say the dog began to charge him.

Two deputies were inside a mobile home Monday looking for two robbery suspects. Detectives say one of the suspects let the dog out of the bathroom.

The deputy says the dog cornered him. Authorities say he tried to spray her with mace, but she was still coming at him, so he shot her.

The two robbery suspects now face several charges.
