Wake Homeowner Upset About Dangerous Curve In Road

WAKE COUNTY, N.C. — A curve on Dillard Drive in Raleigh is causing major headaches for drivers and residents who live nearby.
Melanie Edwards said there have been three wrecks in her front yard. She said the latest wreck took place early Thursday morning. She hopes the state Department of Transportation will put a new guardrail along the side of the road.
Luckily for motorists, Edwards and her husband are paramedics. She said she has heard all kinds of stories from people who have ended up in her front yard.
"The particular fellow who I helped said, 'Gosh, I'm so glad you guys are here. Where did you come from?'" Then I informed him, 'Well, you are in my yard.'" Edwards said. "Then he apologized over and over again."
Edwards, who is pregnant with quadruplets, said she is concerned about them being in the front yard.
"It bothers me. We've already discussed the placement of cribs in the house because I don't want them on the front of the house in case a car gets past the trees," Melanie said.
DOT officials say they will look into the situation.
