GRANVILLE COUNTY, N.C. — Granville County deputies were still searching Tuesday for a man who escaped from their custody on Monday, and a warrant has been issued for misdemeanor escape.
According to reports, John Howard Ellington Jr. had just been arrested by the Granville County Sheriff's Office on charges of felony larceny and possession of stolen goods at the time of his escape. He was being processed in the magistrate's office.
His bond was set at $20,000, and Ellington took off running.
Authorities said he is not dangerous.
Ellington is described as a white male with brown eyes, 32 years old, 5 feet 7 and 180 pounds. At the time of his escape, he had brown hair and was wearing a brown jacket.
