CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — North Carolina freshman Sean May has been cleared for increased conditioning after breaking a bone in his foot in December.
UNC's team physician, Tim Taft, said May will be allowed to jog and take part in limited drills, but not contact drills.
Taft said he doesn't know when May could return to play.
May broke a bone in his left foot early in the second half of a Dec. 27 game against Iona.
The Bloomington, Ind., native had surgery Dec. 30. Doctors placed a stainless steel screw in his foot and injected bone marrow from his hip to enhance his healing.
Taft said May, a center/forward who was averaging 12.1 points and 8.6 rebounds a game, is progressing as expected and will be re-evaluated next week.
